Stay Home, Save Lives
We’re all navigating a new sense of normal. And, while I love the notion of staying home as much as possible, an Executive Order from the Governor asking Chicagoans to stay home is a whole other challenge. Those of us who’ve been deemed essential are still working — and I’d say never before has housing been more essential than right now!
Myself and other REALTORS® are out here doing what we can to provide real estate services and resources. It’s been a bit of business as unusual. I had a Buyer and a Renter move-in this week and although there was much packing and panicking all around, I’m pleased they’re both settled into new safe havens now.
Some general advice for those who are wondering - Homeowners facing financial difficulties due to the Coronavirus should contact their lender about forbearance options as soon as possible. (It is true that Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Housing Administration have announced mortgage payment assistance to those impacted by the virus!) Renters facing financial difficulties should contact their landlords about late payments or other relief options. Be sure to ask what fees may be applied for paying your monthly rent late. Lastly, anyone negotiating a new lease or contract should pay close attention to a force majeure clause and even consider asking to include “disease outbreak,” “epidemic,” “quarantine,” “pandemic,” and others of the like as force majeure events. … Just a precaution! 🤷♀️
If you have more questions about how the virus is impacting the market, please reach out. Meanwhile I’ll be home listening to my State Officials and respectfully taking their request to heart -- “Stay Home. Save Lives”
